Weight Loss Does Not Always Mean Good Health

The US News released the Best Diets 2020 rankings assessing 35 popular diets in terms of their safety and nutritional completeness. Some of these diets are WW (Weight Watchers), The Fertility Diet, the Atkins diet, and more.
The ranking included a detailed diet profile, which also tackles the diet’s scientific evidence, meal plans, and more. The US News evaluated the diets’ healthiness for The Best Diets for Healthy Eating rankings, with the best getting 5 and the worst being 1, based on their nutrition and safety, with the latter getting more weight. An unsafe diet will still be dangerous even if you try to tweak them.
The diets get evaluated by nutrition experts and dietitians. The judges often give high scores in nutritional value and safety to diets that are almost similar to each other.
These diets’ common denominator is providing enough calories from whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, a modest amount of nonfat, lean protein, and healthy fats; and some snacks. They are mostly plant-based and include only minimal processed meals.
Among the diet plans that scored below 3 in terms of healthiness are Fast, Raw Food, Paleo, Atkins, Dukan, and Whole30 diets. These are too restrictive. For instance, the Paleo diet excludes dairy and grains. Atkins leave dieters with high saturated and total fat while banning carbs from their diet.
You will know that you are not following a healthy diet if you notice red flags. These include dizziness, sleeplessness, fatigue, and aches.
Remember that what makes a healthy diet does not include how many pounds you’ve shed. You can only consider it healthy if it boosts your immunity and improves your overall health.
